DOT qualified SAPs are Substance Abuse Professionals who have been trained and certified by the Department of Transportation. They are responsible for providing education, counseling, and referral services to employees who have violated the DOT’s drug and alcohol regulations.
The DOT requires that all covered employers provide their employees with information about the dangers of substance abuse and the DOT’s testing and treatment program. Employees who are found to have violated the DOT’s regulations will be required to complete a SAP Evaluation near me.
The purpose of the evaluation is to determine whether the employee has a substance abuse problem and, if so, what kind of treatment is necessary. The SAP will also make recommendations about how to prevent future violations.
Employees who are required to complete a SAP evaluation must do so within 30 days of being notified of the violation. The evaluation must be conducted by a qualified SAP who has been trained in accordance with the DOT’s requirements.
